Math exercise
[12:00 am]

A spoonful of cream is taken from a cup of cream and put into a cup of coffee. The coffee is then stirred. Then a spoonful of this mixture is put into the cup of cream. Is there now more cream in the coffee cup or more coffee in the cup of cream?

Sasha was put in to Math Mode till Thursday (mid-term exam).

Flash Sites
[12:00 am]

There are loads of badly implemented Flash out there.

But then I sometimes come across the web sites like this and I start to love Flash all over again.

Dreamweaver tip
[12:00 am]

Dreamweaver users! Don't grab the bottom of a table and drag it bigger or smaller - unless you definitely want a fixed pixel height for your table (not likely). Dreamweaver only does what it is told - it assumes you know what good code is.

Sitting at your computer all day and night like me?

I recently came across an excellent presentation - be sure to check out the "Comfort" section and watch all of the animations.

Apache and PHP
[12:00 am]

I've just installed Apache Server for my development purposes. It is free, it is powerful and it works fine with PHP. You can find a great tutorial of how to setup and install Apache + PHP on Windows2000 you at thickbook.com.

If you would like to know a bit more about Web Server software usage on Internet connected computers you should spend some time visiting The Netcraft Web Server Survey.

The W3C MarkUp Validation Service
[12:00 am]

We are asked to use the validator to check our code in order to support standard on the web. And I do so all the time. But it seems to me that it is sometimes too picky. For example:

Web Standard is a great thing, but should we really go crazy with validator's 'no errors' and the small gif that says 'Valid HTML 4.01!'?

Communication & Mass Media
[12:00 am]

One of the courses that I'm currently taking at York University is 'Communication & Mass Media'. The course is very interesting despite the fact that I have no time to dig in deeper into the subject :-). You would like to know what is it all about? Then visit adbusters.org. Adbusters Magazine is a not-for-profit, reader-supported, 85,000-circulation magazine, based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It is concerned about the erosion of our physical and cultural environments by commercial forces. I like a lot their spoof ads.

Clue Design
[12:00 am]

Clue Design, Toronto Web Design Company

Looks pretty simple but I think that is the way how one small online presentation is supposed to be. It took us some time to make everything HTML 4.01 and CSS valid and at the end we are proud of this website.

Old Zeldman, please update you links!
[12:00 am]

I stopped by this site two days ago. A small piece of the history:

Like a fossil I would say :-)

Cool comment by one of the users of the message board where I posted it:

'The web is a palimpsest. There's no telling what kind of shit is buried, here and there.'

Google i-mode
[12:00 am]

Google is the best search engine on the net. No doubt! Simple, fast and efficient. Google Inc. announced on Tuesday the release of new wireless search technology specifically designed for users of NTT DoCoMo i-mode mobile phones. Available now at http://www.google.com/imode, Google's i-mode search service is the first search engine that enables access to the entire World Wide Web from any i-mode mobile phone. Users can now search and browse more than 1.3 billion Internet web pages. When a wireless user requests a traditional HTML page, Google's technology automatically quickly translates the requested HTML document into a format optimized for I-mode wireless phones.

I stopped by brendandawes today. Beside lots of cool Flash stuff, view a small Joshua Davis video. This was the first time I saw the guy who creates amazing once-upon-a-forest.
