A couple of new things added to the Howto section. I know, I am lazy.

Grouping of similar taskbar buttons in WinXP

WinXP groups similar taskbar buttons. I don't like it. You have to click two times instead of one. Luckily, there is a simple remedy which is not easy to find at the first glance. Just right-click on the taskbar, choose Properties and uncheck the "Group Similar Taskbar Buttons".

According to StatMarket IE6 popularity pushes Netscape to all-time low. I am still disappointed with 10.5% that NN4.x holds. That is too much.

MS Explorer 6.0x, 29.4%
MS Explorer 5.5x, 19.1%
MS Explorer 5.0x, 16.7%
Netscape 4.7x, 10.5%
Gecko (Mozilla/Netscape 6), 8.9%
Opera 6.x, 6.5%
Others, 8.1%

Just submited my Java assignment. Almost at the last moment, huh. Our final exam follows in April and we are done with the course. I promised to myself to study hard in order to do it as best as I can. It will also depend on how busy I am in the upcoming weeks.

Telus Screensaver

Screensavers have never been my interest, but this telus' froggy one I couldn't resist. Besides of the frog, that looks surprisingly similar to the one above, you get a very useful calendar.

"Artist's Dummy", the name under which he was sold. I got him in IKEA for about 15 bucks. I found him in a box among hundred others. He was special. I call him "dummy" but I should probably come up with a better name, don't you think?

I've discovered a real time saver when it comes to extracting text from a PDF file. If you have ever tryed to extract the text from a multi-column PDF file, you know what I am talking about. The trick is to use the text select tool while holding down the Control key. Such a simple thing saved me hours of work :-)
You can find more about it on Adobe's website.

My brother redesigned his small folio site. I like this version better. Check it out.

Thanks to the person who posted it over there. I would never be able to find it out on my own.

I mentioned Steve McCurry's famous photo of a 12-year-old Afghan girl two times here. Nobody actually knew if she was alive. Now they found her. Very interesting story. The time has not been kind to her. She's had a hard life.

The site seems to be down. Here is the photo found in my temporary files. I am sure the site will be up soon. However, here is the CNN story.
Did you see my referrers today?

AOL Time Warner's [NTSE:AOL] Netscape unit is snooping on searches performed by users of its latest Navigator browser at Google and other search sites.

According to a network traffic analysis performed by Newsbytes, Netscape is capturing Navigator 6 users' search terms, along with their Internet protocol (IP) address, the date Navigator was installed and a unique identification number.

Yesterday I realized that I am still getting billed for the Bell Sympatico Internet service even though I canceled it about 14 months ago! How didn't I notice it before, I don't know. Since it was their error I am going to get the money back. I was very mad at me and at them but at the end we can call this circumstance as "Bell Sympatico savings plan" :-)
