[08:39 pm]

I got my monitor back today and everything seems to be back to normal. Everything is so big and large now. It was hard to stare at the 15 inches screen all day long. Maybe my monitor broke in order to call more attention. I love it, there is no doubt about it. By the way, do you turn off your monitors overnight? I have never done that. My PC and my monitor are on all the time. Not very environment friendly, though.

Little bird
[12:44 pm]

We found a bird today. A cat was about to eat it. The bird was in the cat's mouth! I still have no idea how we managed to save it. Does anybody have an idea what kind of bird this may be? It is still pretty small, cannot fly, but I think, in a stable condition.

How to drive traffic to your site
[11:56 pm]

I like Nataly Portman and Milla Jovovic, and would love to own a Ferari, and be rich like Michael Shumacher and be smart like Albert Einstain.
How to drive traffic to your site? Just misspell something. Misspell Britney's name. I did it once with Jolene Blalok, unintentionally, and got lots of hits. Don't take me serious here, I really don't think that somebody would be interested to stay here, after searching for Britney and finding a frog site.

Normal people spend their long weekends fishing, playing in the nature, visiting places . . .
I've spent my whole weekend preparing this site for the PHP/MySql/Apache transfer. It'll take some time, but we are getting there.

[12:00 am]

Today, I stumbled across PHP versus ASP. Many interesting points. I think, I am at the point where I would be able to make a switch here at sashaDesign.com (as if it were a big deal, heh). My hosting company would do that for an additional charge of 50$, which is fine for me, but there are some other issues that I am worried about. For example, all the pages indexed by Google (or some other search engine, if there are any) would disappear because of the file extension change. Some URLs are better than others, but unfortunately I didn't think about that before. I know that it is possible to tell the Apache and PHP engine to execute pages with the .asp extension, but I don't have access to the httpd.conf file. Can I do that via .htaccess file? Maybe I can solve the problem using mod_rewrite, but I am still not clear about that :-) I am thinking out loud again, I know.

I am without my monitor until the next week, maybe more. It just burned. I have to use my old Intel Celeron 333 MHz for a while because my old monitor does not work on the new computer :-( Shit happens.

This is very motivational.

LIFE IS . . .
by Mother Theresa

Life is an opportunity, benefit from it.
Life is beauty, admire it.
Life is a dream, realize it.
Life is a challenge, meet it.
Life is a duty, complete it.
Life is a game, play it.
Life is a promise, fulfill it.
Life is sorrow, overcome it.
Life is a song, sing it.
Life is a struggle, accept it.
Life is a tragedy, confront it.
Life is an adventure, dare it.
Life is luck, make it.
Life is too precious, do not destroy it.
Life is life, fight for it.

Sounds unbelievable but according to Dr. Chuck Gerba, University of Arizona, there are about 10 million germs swarming around your keyboard at this moment, which is about 400 times more than the average toilet seat. [via Spiegel]

Xenu is a pretty cool piece of software, and it is free. Xenu found 1911 links on sashaDesign.com. 5% of them are broken, which means, I'll have some work to do :-)
Here is the report. I zipped it, because the size of the HTML file is about 2 MB!

Browsing around the Xenu web site, I stumbled across an interesting link, The Mozilla Museum.

I changed the DNS record on my web sites many times, but this is the most weirdest thing I have seen so far. Igor and I have transferred Clue Design to a new server as reported earlier. Usually it takes about day or two for the DNS change to propagate through the Internet, but this time strange things are happening, even after 5 days. Right now, I see our web site on the new server (PHP pages), but still can access the Webmail which is on the old server!? The new server does not provide Webmail service. How is that possible? How can I access two servers at the same time? I am completely confused.

There are good hosting companies and there are bad ones. With the latter one, you can expect all kind of weird things, but what they did to us yesterday is unheard of. They configured a pizza site to our IP number. Pizza guys just uploaded their site and overwrote ours! Our domain suddenly became a pizza site! After contacting our hosting company I got this:

Due to a configuration error, your site was hooked up to the wrong IP. Please reupload it to the ip number below. We apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you.

They were hooked up to the wrong IP, not us, you moron! We've used that IP number for a couple of months now! After a couple of trouble tickets and a couple of unanswered questions, I decided to call them, but the customer support guy just put the phone down after I explained him who I am and why I call about. He didn't answer the next time I called. I am really upset now, and you be careful when choosing a host. I am not going to use their service anymore and I am not going to recommend them as I did in the past.
