MSN's Corporate Vice President says

Google I think of really more as a competitor than I would as a partner. And so in some respects the way things have shaken out between AOL and Google and ourselves and Overture.

Is there any reason why http://adobe.com (without www) is not working?

A nice Brasilian site linked me.
I'll need Sofia's translation as soon as I get home :-)

Não é filha da Xuxa, mais é uma ótima designer, veja o portfólio da Sasha.

Google Tool allows you to search in all 4 Google-servers with one click. This simple tool may be particularly helpful during the Google update (also called Google dance), which means, different results from different servers on the same search term.

I don't know why, but I don't have enough trust in this guys to check my credit card. Do you? Maybe it is because of the pop-up window.

I modified the refs page a bit. Referrer links from Google, Yahoo, MSN, and soon some other search engines, are now presented in a more friendly way.

Kasko updated Webbrush73. Congrats!

Google July 2002 update happened too. Now I can expect more people coming here from Google as opposed to the last month. This time, all your scrawling and babbling was picked up by Googlebot. Isn't it exciting?

And, yes, I took over serbiangay again. But not only that :-) Tam, tam, . . .
Note, some people don't see anything changed yet. It may take some time. You may try www2.google.com or www3.google.com.

Esso parody logo competition
Esso sued Greenpeace because of a parody logo used on a website which, instead of the "SS" displayed "$$". Esso won, and Greenpeace had to move the site. You can read more about it at Adbusters. Parody logo competition is a new creative way of continuing the campaign. This is pretty cute.

How did I miss this horoscope art?

We had heavy thunderstorms yesterday and two days ago, here in Toronto. Here is a nice pic, taken by a guy who works with me.

Serious PHP vulnerability reported

The PHP form-data POST handler is susceptible to a malicious POST request that can trigger an error condition which, depending on your hardware, can crash the machine or provide for remote exploitation.

The PHP Group today announced the details of a serious vulnerability in PHP versions 4.2.0 and 4.2.1. A security update, PHP 4.2.2, fixes the issue. Everyone running affected versions of PHP is encouraged to upgrade immediately.

PHP 4.2.2 is already installed on the server where this website is hosted. I like that!

8 Queens Puzzle. Interesting JavaScript, interesting problem. I remember trying to solve this one with my chess friends in the chess club "Bosnia" in Sarajevo. You might try the help version of the same problem.

We spent a great day driving around the Lake Huron area. Funny enough, this was the longest trip I have ever done here in Canada. Many people say, Canada is not Toronto, get out of Toronto to experience a real nature and beauty. We had plenty of it yesterday. I took some pictures during our stay on a Huron Lake sand beach, that looked like paradise to me.

dmoz.org has become the first major search site to come into compliance with HTML web standards since 1996! I would really love to see Google going the same path.

Since we are talking about search engines I found rankwrite.com a quite useful resource.

Also, check out AlltheWeb Alchemist. You can now customize AlltheWeb.com search result pages as you like.
Alchemist displays web search results in basic HTML code. Searchers can view these results in this basic format, or customize the results view via their own predefined CSS file, allowing the user to control virtually all aspects of result presentation for the various search catalogs and other elements on the page.

Are Mac users smarter? A survey that should be taken with a grain of salt.

We bought a book called "Stretching". I found a great exercises for the people who spend most of their time at the computer, read geeks. I'll put the exercises in my howto section if I get the permission from the author. I sent the request for the permission a couple of hours ago. It is really something I would like to share with you. Neck and shoulder stiffness and lower back pain is something we can prevent. I think, this kind of stuff should be taken very seriously, and I try to train myself to think about it all the time.
A long time ago, I posted a link to a website that covers this topic nicely.

A touch of class, an interesting article at evolt.org that should serve as a reminder of proper use of class attribute in your style definition.
The short answer is, not much of the time. Use classes when you can't find anything else at all that will let you select the elements a different way.

I spilled Ginger Ale all over my keyboard and of course it doesn't work anymore. Maybe I could get it to work if I had more patience but no, I'll buy a new one tomorrow. On-Screen Keyboard, that can be found under Accessibility programs in Win XP, will do the job until then. I didn't even know it existed. I hate it when parts of my computer refuse to work, and it happens once in a while.
