Photoshop, Burn and Dodge tool

I read a funny photoshop tip today (Photoshop 6 Bible) about difficulty remembering which tool lightens and which darkens.

That little hand icon looks like it could be holding a piece of toast, and when you burn toast, it gets darker. Hand, toast, burn, darker. That other tool, the eye doctor paddle, is not holding a toast, so it must lighten. You'll never have problems again.

I realized one thing today. To show up at Google can be a dangerous matter sometimes. I did a search at Google for "Warning: Too many connections in" inc and was suprised to discover how many people (don't do any harm to them, please) store their database info in an unprotected .inc file, instead of placing it outside of the root.

Talking about security, I scanned my PC for viruses with the Trend Micro's free online virus scanner. Yes, I exposed my hard drive to them, but I (kind of) feel confident about it because they seem to be a good company. Anybody else used this? Am I the only crazy one? All this trouble for one reason only, I hate anti-virus programs. I think they do more harm then good, particularly Norton.

My brother is on vacation.

Read:
We don't drive together to work, and back home.
I have to get up earlier and use TTC.
This means less sleep for me, because I cannot go earlier to bed.
I eat my morning bagel with butter alone.

Conclusion:
My brother should never get vacation.

L.
hello! i loved your site and your pics!
i was wondering what your rates are (USD) and if you would be interested in some occassional and sporadic design work?
aside from that, i may need some programming done (UNIX/LINUX)
thanks!

Me
Hi L,
I charge 25$/hour. Yes, I am always interested in web design/development work.
Sasha

L.
sounds good. do you do database stuff? mysql? asp? php?
im sorry, what was your URL again?
i'm at clue design, but i found you somewhere else!
i forgot to write it down!

Me
It is in the subject line :-)

L.
ewwwwwwww
i must need more help than i thought!
haha

Me
I just saw I missed your question about DB, PHP, and ASP. Yes, I do that.

L.
ok, now im really confused, it is SASA? or SASHA?

Me
I know, it is confusing.
My name is Saša. Š is not an english letter and is the same as "SH".
English speaking people will read my name better if I write Sasha.
Now you decide :-)

L.
hi!
would you mind writing up a little bio of you (and your "talents" and maybe sending along a 100x100 or less image of you, ill put you up on the site!
i've got a heavy duty sales person thatll be going out soon, im getting the team ready now!

Me
Hi
Why would I do that?
I don't want you to put me on your site. Why would you? Since when am I in your team?
Regards

Read an interview with Steve Krug, usability expert and author of the book Don't Make Me Think: A Common Sense Approach to Web Usability. I don't have the book, but I'll get it soon. Anybody read it?

What is usability anyways? Here is a definition:The study of design and architecture factors that affect a user's ability to successfully perform tasks and solve problems on a Web site. Usability testing frequently involves giving users well-defined tasks and evaluating how different Web site designs enhance or hamper their ability to complete tasks effectively. The test results are then used to improve the usability of the Web site for a specific audience (or audiences).

BTW, Svarog, I must give you Jakob's book back :-)

My first impression, Opera 7 looks great. This page finally doesn't have that ugly horizontal scroll which annoyed me in previous versions of this browser.
