Rentacoder rant
[11:35 pm]

There is a hot thread at the Evolt.org list. It started as a a rant about the site rentacoder.com. I must admit, I also tried rentacoder.com, but gave up after two or three unsuccessful bids. Who can build the world for less then 100 bucks? Somebody might, but not if you live in Canada, where a dinner for two costs pretty much the same.
Of course, the thread gradually evolved to a discussion about contemporary economics and offshore development, a hot topic indeed. Supposedly, 1 in 10 tech jobs may move offshore! As much as it may seem worrying for those who live in developed countries like me, we should not complain, because we cannot stop the process anyway. We need to adjust, specialize, and innovate rather then try to protect something that we already have. Will all web development projects be moved to India and Russia, because it's cheaper over there? I don't think so, but I might be wrong. And, if I am wrong, then I'll probably move there too, in the near future :-)

Optical Illusion
[11:46 pm]

Believe it or not, the picture is not moving.
Just a JPG and your eyes being fooled.

Checker-shadow illusion is another one. I had to use Photoshop and Eyedropper Tool to convince myself.

I need a beer.

Is PDF format bad?
[05:10 pm]

Jakob says, PDF: Unfit for Human ConsumptionUsers get lost inside PDF files, which are typically big, linear text blobs that are optimized for print and unpleasant to read and navigate online. PDF is good for printing, but that's it. Don't use it for online presentation.

Netscape dead?
[06:57 pm]

Rumours are flying that AOL has let the Gecko team go and dismantled Netscape. This, of course, does not mean the end of Mozilla open source project. So, we won't miss anything, right?

Squirrel

Heh, Yahoo! news is being too slow. We talked about this a few days ago ;-)

Yahoo! to Acquire Overture. Huge news!

SquirrelIn Toronto, squirrels are like domestic animals. This guy was calmly sitting on a tree in front of our balcony and chewing on a peach kernel.

As of today, you can post your comments about my humble photos.

Photoshop Tip
[10:28 pm]

A useful Photoshop tip for today:
If you need to change the typeface or type style on multiple text layers you don't have to do it hard way by doing it one by one. Simply link all text layers you want to edit, press the Shift key and apply the desired changes.

Tour de France
[11:33 pm]

How much longer until Lance Armstrong wins that French bike-racing thing :-)? I used to do a lot of cycling during the time I lived in Germany. Of course, I would follow the Tour daily and would cheer to Miguel Indurain, who was unbeatable at that time. Big Mig set a record of five consecutive race victories. Lance Armstrong won four so far. Will he be capable of reaching the record this year?
