Firefox
[11:53 pm]
The time has finally come to change my default browser. I got tired of IE6. It was a great browser 3 years ago, but in a fast moving world of the Internet, no application can last so long without any improvements. As far as I know, Microsoft won't offer any IE upgrades any time soon. Firefox is a great browser, which gets upgraded almost monthly, and with all the extensions, there is fun for everybody.

The End of Webmonkey
[06:12 pm]
Webmonkey, RIP: 1996 - 2004 Webmonkey, the site that turned humble Web developers into attention-grabbing authors, said last week it is closing down following a round of layoffs in the U.S. division of its parent company, Terra Lycos.
That's really sad. We hope they'll leave the archives online.

The picture of the day at Spiegel.de. In photography, all you gotta do is catch the moment, right?

Adsense Ad Formats
[09:56 pm]
I just received an automated email from Adsense, sent to all Adsense users, informing me about the new ad formats: tower, banner, inline rectangle, and a single-ad button. Examples of all of the formats are displayed on Google's AdSense Ad Formats page.

Designing for usability
[10:58 am]
Criteria for optimal web design Designing a website that takes into account the human element requires both an understanding of our nature as well as our physiological limitations. Usable websites incorporate human tendencies and limitation into its overall design.

Marco Pantani found dead
[03:48 pm]
A tragedy for the entire cycling world.
I really liked this guy, who was one of the world's best climbers and who won both the Giro d'Italia and the Tour de France in 1998.

Patch your Windows
[09:10 pm]
Microsoft Warns on Windows Security Flaws Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) warned customers Tuesday about unusually serious security problems with its Windows software that could let hackers quietly break into their computers to steal files, delete data or eavesdrop on sensitive information.
Microsoft, which learned about the flaws more than six months ago from researchers, said the only protective solution was to apply a repairing patch it offered on its Web site. It assessed the threat to computer users as "critical," its highest rating.
Within three years, most bank machines that dispense cash will run on the Windows operating system, according to a study published by Celent last September. By the time it happens, I will probably start keeping my money under the pillow instead.

blogspot.com referral spammers
[09:05 pm]
I decided to block all referrals coming from blogspot.com and a few other hosts. Enough is enough. I hardly ever had a legitimate referral coming from blogspot.com, but many bogus ones. I am sick of Paris Hilton pics and videos, Janet Jackson breasts and nude Britneys. Blogger should deal with these idiots, don't you think?

Definition lists
[11:46 pm]
Definition lists - misused or misunderstood? What are definition lists? When are they appropriate? And how to style them to look like tables, image galleries, calendar of events and more.
A nice summary.

Domain registration lapse
[10:46 pm]
We mortals may let domain registration lapse, but when it happens to a large company such as Washington Post it is kind of humorous. Washington Post is apparently not alone in this matter, even Microsoft made this mistake in the past. I wonder how this can happen?!
PHP Tip: I keep forgetting certain predefined server variables ($_SERVER), but luckly, there is an easy way to get them all.
foreach($_SERVER as $key => $value)
{
echo $key . " => " . $value . "<br />\n";
}
Make URLs huge
[02:17 am]
We all heard about tinyurl.com and other similar services that provide a good service of shortening your long URLs. Well, for whatever reason, you can now, make your short URLs huge.
