Forms without submit buttons, how is that? I am building a page and somehow "submit button" doesn't fit to the overall design. I am talking mainly about the form that has just one text field.
When submitting a form what do you usually do, hit "submit button" on the screen or "enter" on your key board? I personally use the latter, because it's faster. Do you think it is stupid to leave out the "submit button" like I did here for the blog search.

In Mozilla or Opera (or IE on someone else's computer), I hit "enter". In Netscape, I hit the button because for some reason "enter" doesn't work half the time. In IE on my computer I used to hit the button because it made it less likely the computer would freeze (long story).
In Lynx, which I find myself using more and more these days, I don't think hitting "enter" *works*, so I always hit the button.

I just tested Lynx/Win, hitting "enter" works.
It is kind of funny, in Lynx hitting button means hitting "enter" at the same time :-)

You could always center (or right/left align) a small form input of type "graphic" that blends with your layout, yet allows those who need or are accustomed to clicking a button a way out. Just a thought.

Why bother using button/image instead of button/submit? I mean, unless you're trying for something *really* fancy (like irregular shapes), CSS styleing of buttons works better than images do :o)
