Which one do you like better?

I often have problems explaining things. I know something is bad and ugly, but don't know how to defend my statement. A couple of days ago I had a problem explaining why creating the pop-up windows all around the site is a bad idea. Or, why code for standards? Why use CSS? The list is long . . . One of those problems that was bugging me a lot lately is the "click here" syndrom. In order to get some help I started the following topic on one of the web design lists:

Somebody mentioned somewhere, "click here" links are bad, and I personally don't like them and try to put meaningful text in my links. Most of the management team members in my company, however, give me a text like this:
Click here for our newest . . .
Click here to see . . .
What do you think? Are "click here" links bad, and if yes why?

After reading this article I couldn't help but do a search on google for "click here" Who came out on top? Our good old friends at Adobe, for acrobat reader. (yep I definitely have too much time on my hands.)
