Read an interview with Steve Krug, usability expert and author of the book Don't Make Me Think: A Common Sense Approach to Web Usability. I don't have the book, but I'll get it soon. Anybody read it?

What is usability anyways? Here is a definition:The study of design and architecture factors that affect a user's ability to successfully perform tasks and solve problems on a Web site. Usability testing frequently involves giving users well-defined tasks and evaluating how different Web site designs enhance or hamper their ability to complete tasks effectively. The test results are then used to improve the usability of the Web site for a specific audience (or audiences).

BTW, Svarog, I must give you Jakob's book back :-)

probably the most important book on web building that i've read. well, ok, it is the most important, i haven't read many (3 or 4).

in some ways it changed the way i think and work on the web. in other ways it put my thoughs into words much better than i could have done, and so i can now communicate ideas and technology to clients much better.

anyone who builds the web for a living needs to read this book.

Yep, got it, read it, enjoyed it so much I'm re-reading it as we speak (so to speak). Very informative, and very easy to read. Krug doesn't use a lot of industry jargon. He spells things out in plain English, and makes you understand why things are important from the user's point of view. His writing style is also full of humor, making the book an enjoyable read. Run, don't walk, to your nearest fine retailer of books and purchase this one post-haste.
