Lately » Ten Most Violated Homepage Design Guidelines
Jacob Nielsen's newest alertbox, Ten Most Violated Homepage Design Guidelines is worth reading, despite of the fact that I always take his articles with a grain of salt. Just imagine, every single website on the Internet following the guideline #2:Use a liquid layout that lets users adjust the homepage size
"Ice, jello or liquid" has always been good food for flame wars, I don't want to agree or disagree, but I would definitely be bored.

i always get a bit weird when people speak of "guidelines". I personally like to make sites that are easy to understand and follow, but I would never diss someone who doesn't. Design! do what you think is best! Who really cares if you have a home link on your home page. Who cares if you label a search box with a search header? Can you image if all site completely filled your monitor? think of those with that crazy mac monitor, I've seen "fluid sites on those that just don't work they end up being 200 pixels high and like 2000 wide! Sasha you bad boy, you don't have a search button! comeon. I personally think inside the box(well most of the time) but if you can think outside and still amaze people than you the man!
