An interesting discussion at 'This Is Broken' initiated with a comment regarding the new Yahoo! beta front page. Users posted many pros and cons that need to be considered. I am inclined to share Jakob Nielsen's viewpoints expressed in his article, guidelines for visualizing links.

I allways turn url underlining off in my browser.

Interesting you should bring this up. I had just added underlines to my links, then turned them back off within 5 seconds. Put me in the camp that agrees with "Assuming the link text is colored, it's not always absolutely necessary to underline it," and color me linked.
